Shrinking Our Environmental Footprint

Jan 16, 2008

We're happy to announce two more leaps forward in reducing our environmental footprint.

First, we now utilize USPS Cradle to Cradle environmentally friendly shipping materials for nearly all customer shipments (Cradle to Cradle Certification at the Silver level from McDonough Braungart Design Chemistry for human and environmental health). Visit USPS.com to read more about this new packaging certification:

Usps

"Cradle to Cradle Certification is a scientifically based process that reviews specific criteria to assess the environmental attributes of materials used in products."

Second, Temperature@lert has balanced its carbon footprint by sponsoring clean energy and carbon reduction projects through TerraPass.

"TerraPass funds three different project types: clean energy produced by wind power; farm power which makes good use of animal wastes; and landfill gas capture, which reduces the impact of our own wastes."

An of course, all of our products are manufactured RoHS compliant.

"The RoHS Directive stands for "the restriction of the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment".  This Directive bans the placing on the EU market of new electrical and electronic equipment containing more than agreed levels of lead, cadmium, mercury, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyl (PBB) and polybrominated diphenyl ether (PBDE) flame retardants. "

It's important for businesses of all sizes to show leadership in being environmentally responsible. At Temperature@lert, we're committed to regularly evaluating our environmental footprint in order to continually shrink it.
